HapWare’s mission is to empower lives by providing individuals who are blind, low vision, deaf-blind, and neurodiverse, and many more with access to nonverbal communication cues. Through our assistive technology, we enable users to navigate social, professional, and educational environments with greater confidence, independence, and autonomy.

Our Story

ALEYE began as a senior design project powered by a government grant and a simple idea: help people access nonverbal communication through haptics. The first prototype recognized just three emotions—happy, angry, and neutral—but it was enough to prove the concept. Driven by user feedback, ALEYE evolved fast. We improved comfort, expanded recognition to gestures and body language, and enhanced the AI for real-time interpretation. Our approach is rooted in “Nothing about us without us.” Our CTO, Dr. Bryan Duarte, is blind and brings vital lived experience to every design decision. Now in scaled beta testing, ALEYE is showing real impact across classrooms, workplaces, and daily life. We’re building toward launch—with a mission to make connection, confidence, and autonomy accessible to all.
